And another art post ~ little green fairy

Since I was done with the portrait project and my dear +tosh orchid  was still giving some finishing touches to her amaaaaaaazing orchid painting...I took the time to do a miniature painting that wouldn't take me more than one or two hours.

The canvas was roughly the size of my hand...and at first I just gave it a background color that felt right at that time:

A bright girly PINK! (^_~)

But then I had to think hard what to paint on that background...I doddled around a bit and soon enough I had a sketch done on paper, that seemed to be the perfect motif. I sketched it on the canvas and for fun grabbed some pretty unusual colors. But see for yourself:

A little green fairy! With greenish-yellow curled up hair and light green wings.

Next up I added some darker green shades and the first shapes of face:

So far so good. I left it to dry a bit and for the next step added highlights and facial features like eyes, nose and lips:

That done, it was time for the finishing touches. Some more shading, eyes and a golden shimmering flower to sit on:

Almost done! All that is missing now is the signature:
