Usually I do graphic stuff like comic style drawings and color them with Photoshop.
Unusual for me to actually work with acrylic paint and brushes on canvas. But if the opportunity offers itself to me, I really enjoy doing that as well. REAL painting. *dramatic gasp*
So ever since 2009, when I met a certain someone in Berlin, I had the idea of a portrait floating around in my mind. In November 2012 I had the chance to join my dear +tosh orchid in doing some art...and so I sat down, looked up references and started painting.
I onjly did the basics back then and it rested until today, when we both finally find the time and peace of mind to do some creative work again.
So I dug out the canvas with the begun portrait and since the painting is resting now to dry, I decided to post up some progress of my work.
Something I should have done as a first step back then, I had to do now: the background. So I carefully painted around the figure and then set it aside to dry at least a bit. By then my hands were smeared with black and I even had some paint on my upper arm...good thing I'm wearing an old tanktop atm...(^_~)
After the background had dried almost completely, I started working on some details. And the background got some more color as well.
Again I set it aside to dry, where it is resting now. The upper part will get something next...but what that will be...I weill tell you in a later post.
Btw...anyone has an idea of who is on the pic? Except for +tosh orchid no one knows for sure (^_^)
